About the Wessex Explorer

Purpose built inshore survey vessel certified under the MCA work boat code category 2, 60Nm for a safe haven and IMCA CMID. We run the vessel with 2 marine crew, using accommodation on-board helps to reduce the cost of hotels and daily expense. Wheelhouse layout with large survey desk area, equipment racks and seating for 5. Aft deck hydraulic A-frame, large twin wire drum winch and options for instrument winches and boom arms to allow for a UXO array. We have also carried out full diving operations, wave rider buoy deployment and servicing, grab sampling, drop down camera and ROVcable inspections

Hydrographic & Geophysical

The Wessex Explorer is a shallow water survey boat and has successfully carried out full spread surveys including multibeam, side scan sonar, sub bottom profiling and full UXO array. With options for hull mounted multibeam, 2 side poles and UXO boom arms all equipment can be mobilised within a short time frame.

Environmental

Hayes Marine offer various set ups of our workboat vessel for charter hire with over 150m of 9mm stainless steel wire and the capacity to increase, there are no limits on where we can operate drop down camera or grab sampling equipment around UK waters. Deployment and recovery in 70m of water takes as little as 5 minutes, winch speed averages 30m per minute and maximum 70m per minute.

Dive Platform

The Wessex Explorer has been used for a number of full commercial diving applications from archaeological wreck inspections, equipment recovery and seabed surveys. Dive ladder, space for a compressor, store area for divers equipment and a large survey desk with storage underneath.
